Angela Hood

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Angela Hood is the Executive Director of the Flint Early Childhood Collaborative, Educare Flint, and Cummings Great Expectations. As a Flint, MI, native, Angela has a great passion for bettering our community and a keen understanding of the challenges faced by the greater Flint area. Angela is devoted to using her skills to address these challenges by significantly improving early childhood access and literacy rates throughout Genesee County. Angela is a proud product of the Flint Community School system and has been active in the community as a faith leader, serving youth and families in crisis for over 20 years. Prior to joining the Flint Center for Educational Excellence, Angela served as the Executive Director of the Flint & Genesee Literacy Network, and Vice President for a Community Development Financial Institution. She has over 30 years of management experience, mainly in the for-profit sector. She holds an MBA and a BS in Accounting from Northwood University and an associate in accounting and business management from Mott Community College. Additionally, Angela serves as a Commissioner for the State of Michigan’s Childhood Lead Environmental Elimination, President of the Mott Community College Chapter of the American Association for Women in Community College, Governance Board member of the local Homeless Continuum of Care supporting families and children with housing instabilities, Hurley Health Advisory Council, the Flint Promise Steering Committee, and Mott Community College’s Accounting Early Childhood, and Business Advisory Boards. She is a PhD student at Michigan State University's School of Education studying Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education.

Chaika Stribling

SCHOOL COORDINATOR

Chaika Stribling is the School Director at Educare Flint. Prior to serving in this role, she served many years in the field of education, most recently as a member of the Educare Flint team as a Mentor Teacher (Early Childhood Specialist) for infant-toddler & preschool classrooms at Educare Flint & their sibling school, Cummings Great Expectations. She also participated at Educare Flint in her most important occupation–as a parent, bringing a unique blend of perspectives to her role as school director. She is passionate about supporting other early childhood professionals in advancing their personal goals while setting a new standard for professionalizing the early childhood field.

Jalen Nunn

SPECIAL PROJECTS MANAGER

Jalen Nunn serves as the Early Childhood Special Projects Manager for the Flint Center for Educational Excellence. Jalen has served the greater Flint community in several roles throughout his career in the areas of education, youth development, and community outreach. In his current role, he has the honor and privilege to support the Center's great mission of helping Flint kids thrive by supporting the Flint Early Childhood Collaborative (Educare Flint and Cummings Great Expectations).

Mike Kildee

FAMILY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

Mike Kildee is a Family Engagement Coordinator for the Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) Head Start program. For the past 23 years, Mike has worked closely with Head Start fathers and families in building trusting relationships to guide them in reaching goals that identify for their children their families and themselves. Mike coordinates the FAME (Fathers and Men Engaged) initiative serving fathers and men whose children are enrolled in GISD Early Childhood Programs.

Mike is a trained facilitator of the Nurturing Fathers and the Marriage & Parenting Curriculum, Inside Out Dads Curriculum for Incarcerated Fathers, the Partners for Fragile 
Families Curriculum for Young Fathers and the Dad’s Café Virtual Curriculum.

Mike earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from the University of Michigan-Flint and is the proud father of 4 children and has 8 grandchildren.
