Ja’Nel is the Executive Director of the Flint Early Childhood Collaborative and Educare Flint. Prior to serving in this role, Ja’Nel served for 10 years in the field of education; most recently as Executive Director of the Flint & Genesee Literacy Network. An ardent advocate for holistic family engagement, Ja’Nel seeks to disrupt intergenerational cycles of poverty through the development and implementation of programs, partnerships, and policies that honor the interdependence between the success of children and the well-being of their parents.
As school director for Educare Flint, Jodi Ramos ensures that Educare Flint offers a safe, high-quality program for children that also provides meaningful support to families. She works closely with children, parents, teachers and other staff members. She also coordinates building programs with external partners including Early On and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).
FAMILY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR
As family engagement director, Jenny Hall partners with Educare Flint families to set and meet their own unique set of goals and objectives. Her work helps advance the Educare goal of serving the whole child - families included. She manages a team of five family engagement advocates and works closely with parent ambassadors, parent cafes, and the WOW and FAME parent groups.
Chakara Wheeler is the Executive Assistant for Educare Flint & the Flint Early Childhood Collaborative. Prior to serving in this role, Chakara served for 10 years in the field of education from Preschool - 12th grade. She believes that her purpose is to serve children any way she can with an understanding of the needs within the Flint community. She continues to serve the local community by working tirelessly to improve early childhood education for all residents throughout Genesee County.
